very old vines (80–90 years old) in a cool subzone around Ponferrada at around 800–900 m elevation on schist soils (cf the better-known clay and sandy sites found across most of Bierzo)

Chanson Pere et Fils, Corton Rouge Size:6x750ml black cherries(from Le Meix). A highly complex and pungently earthy nose of intense floral notes is accompanied by ripe cassis and dark berry fruit. The supple, round and delicious flavors are unusually accessible for a young Corton and this terminates with a slightly sweet if moderately long finish. An atypical if perfectly good example.
