Early 20th Century Japanese Furoshiki Wrapping Cloth (2) blue in the 1890sThis lovely furoshiki wrapping cloth originated in Japan within the Taisho period. It has been saffron dyed and the main text translates to: 'Book Store', which would be where it was originally used. The red text translates to 'Lucky'. It would have been used to wrap and protect books that were bought. Nowadays however, it would make an interesting art decor piece for any modern home.
