Hayden The Kanab 7. 5' quadrangle includes the city of Kanab and the Vermillion Cliffs step of the Grand Staircase, which is incised by Kanab Creek, the Cottonwood Canyon drainage, and their tributaries. Exposed strata range from the Triassic upper red member of the Moenkopi Formation to the Jurassic Navajo Sandstone, but the reddish brown Jurassic strata in the middle of the section create the Vermillion Cliffs that dominate the area.
